After receiving so many comments on our site, crying free trial scam, we decided to prepare this article to help you avoid this type of scam. So we’ve tried to list the main reasons why you shouldn’t play along.
REASON 1: A free trial sample will never make you lose weight!
Why not? The answer is quite simple, in fact, and all you have to do is think about it. When it comes to weight loss, there are solutions that work, but in the form of a treatment requiring a supply of at least 3 months to see the first results. How else can a free trial of a product sample help you lose weight?
Unfortunately, this is where the scammers use their “genius”. They dangle a miracle solution in front of you that doesn’t exist: lose a lot of weight in a very short time! This encourages you to accept the sample without thinking and, above all, without reading!
REASON 2 : If it’s free, why pay?
Your scammers say they’re charging you shipping costs to send you the “gift”! The scenario is so well thought out that you (being the good person that you are) decide to participate in this benevolent effort on the part of the seller, by paying these charges in solidarity with him. But no! If a salesperson decides to offer a free trial, he or she should only be charged for the actual first product purchase. That’s just the way it is!
With this in mind, make sure you don’t provide any credit card information outside of a secure, official purchase. Never fill in forms on pages that promise freebies. There’s no such thing as “free” on the web: there’s always a quid pro quo somewhere. If it’s free, then YOU are the product!
REASON 3: What about the terms and conditions?
If the offer of a free trial is part of a general sales strategy for a given product, the seller is bound by current law to mention it in his terms of sale…which most of you never read!
Unfortunately, scammers still “protect” themselves by mentioning the terms of their scam, in a number of ways:
- From microscopic clauses written in fairly invisible characters or hidden visually somewhere are now there to announce a recurring charge! If you click on the order button, it’s assumed that you’ve read these clauses!
- Text formulated in heavy, sometimes ambiguous or confusing sentences confusing. In short, just the thing to put you off and make you “skipper” through the formalities to go ahead with the purchase.
- Little asterisks well hidden in the corners of overly distracting images, timidly signaling tacitly renewed subscription programs. The trick is to put text in the image so that search engines or even a browser search can’t detect the information!
